On Saturday 14th April, we went to the Sudbury Rugby Club to celebrate Glenn’s 50th birthday with him and his close ones.
It was lovely for us to unpack the car and set up in the sun for the first time this year! When we arrived, the queue for the hot food van was already lengthy and the smell of hotdogs filled the air. We could hear laughter and kids playing from the carpark, and knew we were in for an excellent night.
We had guests up and dancing at the first song with ‘I’m a Believer’, and they barely stopped all night – we could only just keep up with them! Increasing amounts of dancers saw us through the early 2000’s and to the end of our first set.
It made a change after a cold winter for us to need a cool down in the outside air, but we were soon back at it for the second set. The party really heat up, so after upping our game and going all out for the 50’s songs (matched by some very impressive twisting by the Birthday Boy himself!), we had another little break before we brought out the big guns.
By this time, it was dance-off o’clock. It was a very tough call, and although we were tutored on
‘flossing’ by a young pro, it was a lovely lady chosen by Mark that bagged the wine prize.
We wound down the night with Oasis, and it was beautiful to see everyone singing together in unison.
Thanks so much for having us, we hope to see you fun lot at another party again soon, and a final Happy Birthday to Glenn!
